Did you know that as a home owner in San Mateo County you’re responsible for the maintenance of the sidewalk adjacent to your house?

    So exactly what do you pay property taxes for?
    Up here we have to shovel snow and keep them clean but to actually pay directly for the repair seems a bit much.
    Around my part of the world the city planted huge trees years ago that now have roots breaking and uplifting the side walks.
    It’s a roller coaster walk most of the time. But they/we pay for that repair.

    That seems a bit outlandish. I am surprised that the city does not pay for it, not to mention they would all be cleaned at the same time.
