To help provide first-time home buyers with peace of mind when purchasing a home, the C.A.R. Housing Affordability Fund (C.A.R.H.A.F.) is offering a new mortgage protection program to first-time home buyers.
Just In Case You Get Laid Off
Through the Housing Affordability Fund’s Mortgage Protection Program, first-time home buyers who lose their jobs due to layoffs may be eligible to receive up to $1,500 per month for up to six months to help make their mortgage payments. A qualified co-buyer also can participate in the program, for a monthly benefit of $750 per month for up to six months.
More Benefits
Program benefits also include coverage for accidental disability and a $10,000 death benefit. C.A.R.’s Housing Affordability Fund is dedicating $1 million toward its Mortgage Protection Program this year, and estimates that up to 3,000 families will benefit from the program throughout 2009.
How To
To qualify for the Mortgage Protection Program, applicants must:
. Be a first-time home buyer – someone who has not owned a home in the last three years

This is one of my favorite photos. The tractor driver thought it was funny that I was taking pictures of him. It’s a hobby I rediscovered when I started blogging – and I’m so glad I did!
I wanted to write/find some info on saving money that related to home ownership to share with you. I just started reading The Simple Dollar – their Time Machine for November 7th has a whole post on Winterizing your home.
So thanks again to The Simple Dollar!
You may need help for several of the suggestions – I will. If you need a recommendation to a good HVAC specialist – or anyone else, let me know. I’m happy to help.

Nick’s restaurant in Pacifica has been around since the late ’20s. When you sit in the dining room you can enjoy the incredible Pacific sunsets. You have to order the garlic bread!
Pacifica is a Northern California coastal town of approximately 40,000 and is located about 15 minutes south of San Francisco. The fog can come in at a moment’s notice so you’ll always want to have a sweater handy.
Half Moon Bay has just 12,500 residents. It’s a quaint small town with a true Main Street. And is home to the world famous Maverick’s surfing competition and the yearly Pumpkin Festival.
I found The Simple Dollar.com looking at a recommended list of blogs. The first post was about the Dow and what it means when they shout the “Dow is up!” “The Dow is down!”
If you ever spend money on entertainment, you have all you need to begin investing. Instead of renting a DVD at the Redbox, stop by your library, check out a movie for free, and put aside that dollar you save. There are countless other little ways to shave just a little bit here and there without changing your lifestyle.
For the rest of the story check out The Simple Dollar. It’s worth your time.
