San Mateo Home Buyers: You Should Know

So you’re buying your first home in San Mateo!  Congratulations!

Now what?  You ask.

When you buy a house the third party that handles the money is called the escrow company.  They not only hold your deposit, they manage the payment for your home owners insurance and property taxes.

Your mortgage company (lender) requires that you have a home owners insurance policy paid for a year and that your property taxes are paid for six months.

Those payments are part of your closing costs.  The escrow company will pay those invoices through escrow, making sure your lender knows they were paid.  If you try to pay them yourself you’ll muck up the works and confuse everybody.

Need help buying your first home?  Call me.  I’m here to help.
