When You Sell Your House What’s The Most Stressful Part?

Burlingame Train Station

I’ve listed a home in Burlingame for sale.  It’ll be on the market shortly.  The seller asked me yesterday, “What’s going to be the most difficult part of selling my house?”

“Wow.  That’s a great question.”  I’ve been thinking about it ever since.

My standard annoying answer:  It depends.

If you’ve owned the house for 45 years like they have then cleaning it out might be a big job.  The longer we live somewhere the more we collect.  There’s no reason to get rid of that extra shovel if it fits in the garage.  We just end up pushing things aside to make more room for the new golf clubs or lawn mower.

If there’s heavy negotiating between the parties that could be stressful for those sellers who either aren’t used to it or don’t like it.   When we’re doing things outside of our normal everyday lives it’s probably going to be stressful.

Waiting.  There’s plenty of that.  Inspections.  Appraisal.  Contingency removals.   If you’re anxious or not patient that could be a problem.
