Do you really want to sell your house in San Mateo yourself when you’re moving two hours away?
I had lunch with my friend Cindy today. She said she talked to a seller that’s going to sell their house themselves. I’m a realtor and I wouldn’t sell my own house.
I don’t get it. I mean I get the part about wanting to save money but how are they actually going to do it? How does a carpenter build a house without the right tools?
Someone calls to see the house and you have to tell them they can’t because you have to drive two hours to unlock the door?
When I sold my first house the buyers wanted to reduce the price because it didn’t appraise for the price they offered. They hired an appraiser from out of the area; she didn’t know the neighborhood or the houses. I flipped out. There was no way I was going to be able to have a professional conversation about reducing the price.
I was just like any other seller. Not only did I fix up the inside, I was the landscape contractor. I was out there with a dang jackhammer when the driveway needed to come out. Now they want to reduce the price? I don’t think so.
I had a realtor. I turned to her and said, “Tell them NO.” Not much for negotiating when I had to do it for myself. There are just too many details to do it yourself. Get someone who knows what they’re doing.
It has nothing to do with selling your house but I sure was surprised when I came back in the room to Bella licking my left over pizza.
